rear radius arm repair kit

Post by Max114 »

Hello, this is Max from Italy, currently restoring a Rover 114/Metro GTI spi year 1991.

I'm not new to Metros, as family we had 2 Metro mk1 back to 80's and I had a Gti mpi in 00's in my 20's.

Now after several cars restored for nostalgia (I'm 45 years old now...)and the fact that this GTI needed to be rescued I'm now at work to bring it back on the road. This cars in Italy are pretty rare...most of all scrapped due to Hydragas issues.

This GTI spi is surprisingly good with no rust (actually Metros in Italy never went rotten as those in UK.... ok your weather is tougher but ... not enough to justify the difference in my opinion), has usual Hydragas issues and I will send Hydragas unit to UK to refurbish them... and need a good service (belts, brakes...) plus...I noticed first time I jacke the car up...rear radius arm pin with a lot of side- play...left one bigger then right one but both need a refurbishment.

The car has 99.000km on the odometer and probably never been greased via the proper nipples.

Now finally i'm at the point: I'm struggling to find radius arm repair kits... and it surprises me.
Nothing on rimmerbros, ebay or other spare parts specialists...

Actually I found one old nos kit on ebay UNIPART with code GSV1174. On other sites I found them with code GSV1175 but out of stock and expensive too!

I considered it a common wear and tear item so I'm surprised I can't find any supplier...

So please I kindly ask you help where to find it or if, as I presume, is possible to eliminate play of radius arm just by changing the two roller bearing or using the kit normally destinated to Classic MInis or whatever.

Thank you for your attention and in advance for your help!
