Starting work on my 1994 GTi, I want to remove the rear body mouldings to get access for some welding work. Any idea's

Pour hot water (or heatgun it) along the top of the moulding to soften the tape that holds it,
problem with removing these mouldings is that they go rippley if you dont take
your time, so they look crap when you put them back on.
Or you could cheesewire along the fixing tape, take the top moulding off The std one)
before the (gti) lower one.

Thanks for your help, will try hot water and a hair dryer, not to bother about the paint work will need a local respray.I take it it's refitted with double sided tape

Yes, double sided tape, but take your time as these are like rocking horse sh*t to get now.
