Its probably the module on the side of the distributor, they're known for failing, also check the resister wire to the dizzy, should be around 9 volts, its the white/pink wire with 'Resister' printed along its length, it gets warm when its on. Check you have 12v on the wire from the starter solenoid...

Why dont you fit the Maplin central locking kit, the CDL motors are far superior to the Rover ones.

If your ecu recognises the later 36-4, then you can fit the 1.6 flywheel and clutch, If it only recognises the earlier rover 36-2 then you can fit that 1.4 flywheel and still fit a 1.6 clutch plate and cover as the clutch fitment is the same, indeed MG standardised the 1.4 and 1.6 flywheel around th...
