Re: Vhpd

Hi, you cant shim hydraulic followers, as they run against the cam base circle, You would shim the solid followers, as the clearances would change simply by lapping the valves in, Its a bit time consuming on a 'K' head as the cam carrier needs to be fitted, I had to make new shims for the vvc inlet ...

Re: Vhpd

Hi, yes you would need to convert to solid lifters with the appropriate springs/caps etc and a mappable ecu, the std ecu wont cope. The mgf supercup cams were Iirc285 - 290deg duration, and were good for 190bhp, with the springs I had with my head, valve bounce was @ 8400 rpm, which is why I did my ...

Re: Vhpd

VHPD cams are a solid lifter profile, so no good with hydraulic cam followers,
so you would need to convert to solid lifters and double valve springs as the
powerband peaks at higher rpm.
Also you would need a mappable ecu as the std one wont cope.

Re: Cam pulley

It sounds like you didn't tighten the bolt correctly, I'm guessing the grinding noise was the cam pulley tilting out and contacting cam belt cover, go out a buy a lottery ticket, because you were soooo close to bending the valves, as that pulley was about to come off. You need another cam pulley and...

Re: Mems 1.9

Have you pressed in the inertia switch for the fuel pump?. The black switch with the square rubber cap on it. press it down till you feel the switch click, normally if the car is immobilised, it will start and run for a couple of seconds then stop, this is classic immobiliser arming. Iirc the wire c...

Re: Rover metro electrically dead

Check fusebox fuses, I would also be looking for a short circuit, ie a live to ground, headlight wires are std lucas, blue/white is main beam, blue/red is dipped, you can disconnect the dim-dip resister behind rh front wheel dirtshield, that stops the dim-dip but doesn't effect the normal operation ...

Re: Rev Counter problems.

Iirc mems 1.6 ecu equipped cars (metro GTi, alloy inlet manifold) 3AS alarm gets rpm signal from coil neg-ve White/black wire. mems 1.9 ecu cars, metro/R100 with plastic inlet manifold and mems3, 5AS alarm gets rpm signal from ecu, but still has same wire colour White/black at the dash plug, now, ea...

Re: Rev Counter problems.

Hi, it may be a sticking gauge,
the wire you should have is coloured white with a black tracer
from the coil neg terminal.
I would try the gauge in a car that has a rev counter as std to
see if yours works as it should.

Re: Fuel tank

No, cant fit diesel tank to petrol or visa versa, Diesel tanks are basic inside as regards fuel pickup etc, whereas Mpi tanks have internal pump, in a fuel bowl/tray which integrates with returning fuel to keep pump supplied with fuel. 3 door and 5 door tanks are the same, just filler necks are diff...
