Loom problems.
I have a loom for my 1.8t, the problem is the driveshaft didn't agree with it! Anyway I have unpicked the crank sensor loom from a mgf loom but the wires are different colours! I can't check which way it was on the old loom because it's pulled the plug off! Can anyone help me? I need to know which wire from the sensor goes to which pin of the ecu if possible! Also while I'm here.. can I use a mems2 alternator instead of the mems3? I've got many spare mems 2 and no mems3..
Re: Loom problems.
im not sure on the crank sensor wiring, maybe a haynes manual should show something like that. You can fit any alternator you want if you modd the wiring to suit. Im using my original 1.1 carb alternator on my mems3 loom, mainly because it uses the single crank pulley set up rather then the shared PAS crank pulley

I've fitted a single belt bottom pulley too! I will have to find a wiring diagram! Looking at the way they work I think you could wire them either way but I would rather be sure!
Re: Loom problems.
yea your probably right on that, either way its only a quick swap if your wrong, I know the crank sensor wiring has to have shielding around it to stop interference, just make sure you dont unwrap that

The shield is still on.. I can't remember off the top of my head but it isn't earthed I don't think? I thought the shield is usually earthed.. Might be wrong though! I think I might just connect it up and see what happens! If it doesn't run I can swap them over!
